Whether you are new to the trails or a seasoned singletrack rider, our Axis series models offer an uncompromised quality without compromising your bank account. The perfect blend of hardtail performance with rugged utility, the Axis is a value oriented build ready for any new rider or trail enthusiast looking to jump into the mountain bike scene. For 2014 our Axis series models are combining the trail crushing dominance of the 29” wheel with the agility of the 26” wheel; bring on the 27.5!
Why 27.5” Wheelset?
While this is an ongoing debate amongst the masses there are notable benefits to the 27.5” wheel that continue to contribute to its growing popularity. Lower rolling resistance and better traction giving you a smoother ride similar to that of the 29”, but with less geometry and suspension travel limitations, or toe clearance concerns. In the end you have a smoother ride than a 26” wheel and greater torsional stiffness and durability than a 29” wheel. Our new, custom SL-7 M-Series 27.5” Doublewall wheels have been served up to keep you charging ahead on every trail.
At the core of our new Axis 27.5 series is the Diamondback Axis 27” Butted 6061-T6 aluminum frame with formed top and down tubes, machined headtube, and forged drop outs with replaceable hanger. Sure to turn heads on the trail, the ultra-sleek yet simple lines of this frame blends uncompromised strength with unique style like only we know how.
The elite component package found on the Axis Pro sets the tone and ultimately will have you setting the pace. A FOX 32 Float CTD 27.5” fork with 32mm stanchions, 100mm travel, open cartridge, external rebound compression adjustment and lockout, and a 15mm QR thru axle for top notch front end torsional stiffness. What does all this mean for you? The Lockout feature allows you to customize the feel of the fork for maximum performance. Engage the Lockout to help you on those long ascents or enduring flat sections. Unlock the fork to experience the plush and uber responsive rebound for descents. Completely customizable so you get what you want out of each and every ride.
The Avid Elixir-3 Hydraulic Disc brakes are fit to help you take on the most challenging trails around with 180mm front and 160mm rear G2 rotors, while the competition issued Schwalbe Racing Ralph Evo tires give you absolute traction control on every surface.
SRAM takes total control of the 10 speed drivetrain with features like the S1000 crankset with replaceable rings (36/22t), X-7 Trigger Shifters and front, an X9 Type 2 rear derailleur, and PG-1031 cassette (11-36t).
Our customized DB spec’d cockpit is dialed to the tune of a 3D forged 7° rise stem, ‘no-rise’ Flat Handlebar, and a 30.9 Micro Adjust Seatpost topped off with a DB Race Saddle. No doubt a formula that equals all day comfort in or out of the saddle.
For 2014 we are launching a new era of all-purpose mountain bikes. The Axis Pro boasts a new platform with the same value-packed, rugged reliability you’ve come to know and love about Diamondback.
