DiamondBack Mason FS Pro Black 2014

Mason FS Pro 29

  • Diamondback proprietary All Mountain Full Suspension 29’er Aluminum Frame
  • 29” diameter wheels for navigating larger obstacles
  • Hydraulic disc brakes for premier stopping power
  • FOX Front and Rear Suspension for a superior ride
  • 1 × 10 drivetrain gearing; a simple approach to trail domination

For 2013 we brought you the revolutionary Mason all mountain hardtail that quickly became the most sought after model in the Diamondback stable; now time for our 2014 encore.

The Diamondback Mason FS Pro represents a pinnacle in technology and innovation. Utilizing Diamondback’s Knuckle Box suspension, we’ve designed a 140mm travel all-mountain slayer that climbs like the sun and descends with prowess. Featuring a tapered head tube, a 142×12mm thru axle, and optimally placed pivots, the frame was designed around low leverage rate and a low center of gravity. The tight linkage cradles the rear shock and the tight aluminum hardware with Force-Rated Enduro Max Bearings withstands higher loads and better handles oscillating motion. The rear seatstay bridge has been beefed up to handle better lateral forces for the stiffest rear end available. Wrap all of these goodies into a frame with a 66.5 degree headtube angle, a low BB and short chainstays… BOOM. Enough said. Go ride.

Loading up the front end is a Fox 34 Float 29 CTD adjust FIT w/ Kashima coat, 140mm travel with external rebound, butted Alloy 1.5 Tapered steerer, 34mm Easton aluminum stanchions, magnesium lowers, w/QR15 thru axle. Paired with a Fox Float rear shock with pedal platform and CTD settings (Climb, Trail, Descend) your needs are covered.

An Easton HAVEN 24h 29” Clincher wheelset wrapped in KENDA Nevegals w/ STICK-E rubber compound make for a premium, light weight trail oriented package. AVID XO Trail 4 Piston Hydraulic Disc brakes with 200mm front & 180mm rear rotors offer elite stopping power and sensitivity when and where you see fit.

Benefits of a 29” wheel are pretty apparent:

  • Angle of Attack – Larger wheels decrease your angle of attack by allowing you to roll over obstacles easier and faster. Bigger wheel = smaller obstacle.
  • Momentum – A larger wheel enables one to carry momentum easier though obstacles.
  • Surface Contact – 29”wheels are less prone to sinking in soft material such as sand and mud due to the larger contact patch causing lower ground pressure. The longer contact patch increases cornering and straight line traction.
  • Stability – The relative position of the bottom bracket/cranks to the axles in the wheels also means that your relative center of gravity is lower. This results in a feeling of riding “in” the bike rather than on top of it.
  • Tire Clearance – with more tire choices than any platform, the 29”wheel easily accommodates off road as well as commuting tires.
  • Taller Riders – 29″ bikes tend to offer taller riders a more “natural” frame geometry.

Drive this machine forward with a SRAM X1 X-Sync 11spd 32t crankset with GXP Sealed outboard bearing bottom bracket. Combine this with a SRAM X-0 X-Horizon Type 2 11spd rear derailleur and trigger shifter, and a SRAM XG-1195 11spd Cassette (10-42T) and you have a minimalist approach that saves weight while providing a range gear options to get you where you want to go.

Get a feel for the cockpit with a RACEFACE Atlas 0° stem and handlebars, a Crank Brothers Kronolog Dropper 30.9 seatpost and the WTB Silverado Race saddle; all systems are go for launch.

With all of the new 29ers on the market, isn’t it great to know that our gravity oriented friend can play too?

The Mason FS Pro comes in Black and is available in four sizes: SM (15.5″), MD (17″), LG (19″), XL (21″).
